Gordon Dougall

Gordon founded Limelight Music in 1989 and since then his mentorship skills have aided the careers of many of Scotland’s disabled musicians and performers.

An experienced musical director, composer, writer and theatre director Gordon has worked in the arts and entertainment business for over 35 years with Bell Records, Chapel Music London, Red Ladder Theatre, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Dundee Rep, National Theatre of Romania, Merlin Theatre Budapest, Parapanda Arts Lab Tanzania, MacRobert, Communicado, TAG Theatre, The Citizens Theatre, Fittings Multi Media Arts and Wildcat Stage Productions.  He was also the Musical Director/Composer for the Kings Theatre Glasgow for four years. 

He is a multi-award winning artist who has been director and co-writer of many successful Tron Theatre Pantomimes and as a composer has produced many scores for feature films and television. From 1989 until 1995 Gordon shared the post of in-house composer with Craig Armstrong during Michael Boyd’s reign as artistic director of The Tron Theatre. He Directed and co-wrote the TMA award nominated music production Katie Morag for Mull Theatre and was musical director for the Forbes Masson shows Crackers, Stiff! and Mince? Gordon was the musical supervisor of Tony Roper’s The Steamie at SSE Hydro in 2019 which was met with rave reviews and critical acclaim. Gordon repeated his musical supervising role again recently in 2022 for The Steamie’s run at Dundee Repertoire theatre. Most recently he worked with Alan Cummings and Forbes Mason to write and record music to coincide with the release of their book Victor and Barry’s Kelvinside Compendium. 

Gordon is also an SFA football coach, coaching his local team Symington Tinto AFC.
